Something I realised, after having to help many international tourists count out their change, is that American coins don’t actually have the number value on them??? Like no wonder all these poor tourists are so confused
it just fucking says one “dime”
what the fuck is a dime
how much is it worth
whose idea was this
oh my god i never even realized that what the hell we all just sort of know what they’re worth through some sixth sense bullshit
"E Pluribus Unum" and "In God We Trust" are all anyone needs to know «
everything else like the worth of our coins, is top secret.
It still pisses me off that the dime is smaller but worth more than nickels.
Nickels piss me off the most.
Nickels cost $0.07 to make, but are worth only $0.05.
Pennies cost $0.015 to make, but are worth only $0.01.
Quarters cost $0.20 to make, and are worth $0.25.
Of our 3 most common coins, only one of them costs less to make than it’s face value.
What we should be doing is this
Paper money for $5 and above,
That’s it. That is the most optimal currency spread for the American economy. However, because of how currency is handled, with oversight split across both houses of the congress, the presidential office and non-elected members of the house of the treasury all of which who want to flex their own political power in small ways nothing can happen.
The denomination effect would actually get people to spend more money, because regardless of what is printed on the currency piece, people will spend coins more than notes.
But what about when something costs $1.67 and you give them a $2 coin? Like, are all prices for every single product and service in the entire country supposed to be divisible by 10c or what? Is this a thing that happens in countries without pennies? Isn’t there a rounding system in place or something? I’m so confused.
I used to be so into collecting comics, but now I only occasionally buy graphic novels. The price completely put me off. Only comic series I intend to pick up any time soon is the Fight Club follow up.
I was hoping to get into GotG before the movie’s out next week, at least to catch up a bit on the characters’ backgrounds, but that’s looking like an expensive proposition. I wish I could ‘rent’ them for a cheaper price, since I don’t need/want a digital comic collection even though I’d be happy to read them on my computer.
Man, it’s really expensive to try to get into comic books. The closest comic book store to me is two hours away and if I buy them digitally they’re $10+ for the more recent comics. Five volumes of the 2008-2010 Guardians of the Galaxy graphic novels is $50 which is… a lot to me? (I believe those are collections with ~5 issues each, so ~25 total issues)
But I’m not a comic collector, so maybe my opinion is skewed. I would love to jump in and read, especially if I could start from the actual 1960s beginning of a series like X Men and read them in chronological release order. But I know that’s asking a lot and would be very very expensive.
Not to mention, $2 for a digital issue means I’ll just have some sort of e-comic and that doesn’t seem nearly as good to me.
So there’s this video I’m trying to find. It’s some kid sitting on his couch and it’s like some basic Spanish phrases? But it’s also weird and has a neat song in the beginning? But I forget what it’s called/where to find it. Help?
Let’s discuss how unbelievably impossible it is to attain a Lucky Egg in FiredRed and LeafGreen.
Chansey has a max 4% appearance rate in Area 2 of the Safari Zone.
Chansey is abysmally hard to catch and runs away faster than most Pokemon.
It has a 5% chance of holding a Lucky Egg when caught.
Ignoring catch rate, that’s a .2% chance of getting a Chansey with a Lucky Egg. And that’s the only way to get one in those games.
